Stewardship Saturday at World’s End
Join park stewards and our partners The Trustees to help with landscape and ecosystem management atop the beautiful drumlins of World's End! As we work together to enhance habitat for native birds, insects, trees, and wildflowers, we'll explore the local flora and fauna and discuss the ecology, natural history, and cultural significance of the landscapes within Boston Harbor Islands National and State Park. Registration is required for this event. See “Day as a Park Steward” for what it’s like to join us! Directions: Please meet staff at the entrance to World’s End (165 Martin’s Lane, Hingham, MA). Parking is available, but carpooling is strongly encouraged to reduce the number of cars in the lot. The entrance is also a one mile walk from the Nantasket Junction stop on the Greenbush commuter rail line. We will send more information to registrants about parking and carpooling prior to the event. The day will begin at 9 AM and end at 2:30 PM. Please reach out to the site contact from this listing if you have any concerns or questions about getting to the worksite from the greater Boston area. What to wear: Long-sleeved shirts, long pants, socks, closed-toe shoes, and layers for the weather. Conditions can be unpredictable so please monitor the weather in the days leading up to the event and dress appropriately.

Tails of Courage Dog Walk
Sunday, October 11, 2026 Hull Lifesaving Museum to Windmill Point Boathouse Hull, MA 10:00 am $25 (includes t-shirt) Grab your leash and join us for the inaugural Tails of Courage Dog Walk, held in loving memory of Roger, the Hull Lifesaving Museum’s beloved mascot. The walk will begin at the Hull Lifesaving Museum, continue to Village Playground for a water station, and then head to the U.S. Coast Guard Station for another water break. Walkers and their canine companions will finish at the Hull Lifesaving Museum’s Windmill Point Boathouse, where they can enjoy local vendors, activities, refreshments, and special pup cups for our four-legged participants. Inspired by Roger and the courageous dogs of the U.S. Life-Saving Service and Coast Guard, this family-friendly event celebrates the loyalty, bravery, and unconditional love that dogs bring to our lives. Proceeds will support the Hull Lifesaving Museum and its mission: “Saving Lives Then ~ Changing Lives Now.”

Stewardship Saturday at Cathleen Stone Island
Come join park biologists and volunteer stewards for a Stewardship Saturday at Cathleen Stone [Thompson] Island! Help us control non-native invasive plants and enhance native ecosystems and natural processes in the park. We will explore the local flora and fauna and discuss the ecology, natural history, and cultural significance of landscapes in the park as we work to understand and improve habitat for the native birds, bugs, trees, and flowers of the Boston Harbor Islands. See a Day as a Park Steward for what it’s like to join us! Directions: Departure will be from EDIC pier. The dock is a short walk from multiple public transit stops (namely the Silver line and the Red line, with bus routes nearby as well). There are also public paid parking garages nearby and people occasionally find free street parking down Summer Street across the bridge. More information about arrival and logistics will be given the week of the event.

A Tale of Two Colonies: Plymouth & Wessagusset ~ Post-Thanksgiving Walking Tour
Saturday, November 28, 2026 10 am – 12 pm Meet at: Great Hill Parking Lot, 95 Bradley Rd., N Weymouth, MA $15 per person In 1620, the Pilgrims established Plymouth. Just two years later, Thomas Weston—one of the men behind the Mayflower venture—established another English settlement at Wessagusset, present-day Weymouth. The two colonies were separated by only a few miles, but they represented very different visions for the future of New England. One survived to become “America’s Hometown,” its story retold every Thanksgiving. The other collapsed within a year and was largely lost to history. Why do we remember one and forget the other? This Thanksgiving, join us as we leave the familiar Plymouth story behind and explore the remarkable story of Wessagusset—its ambitious beginnings, its troubled relationship with its Native neighbors, its connection to Plymouth, and the violent events that ultimately brought the two colonies together. Two colonies. Two visions. One became an American origin story. The other nearly forgotten. Meeting Location: 92 Bradley Road, North Weymouth, MA What to Bring: Check the weather and dress appropriately, and wear walking shoes.
