Beasts from the East Dragon Boat Classic and Fort Point Festival
Beasts from the East Dragon Boat Classic is a dragon boat race and cultural festival to be held at Fort Point Channel. The race will have divisions for adults (entry fee), youths (free entry), and cancer survivors (reduced entry fee). Though the race portion will serve as a fundraiser to support our growing youth program and bring athletes from the Northeastern USA to compete, the cultural festival will be free for all to attend. Ohana New England, Inc is partnering with multiple nonprofit organizations (Hidden History, Boston Harbor Now, TACC, FPAC, Save the Harbor/Save the Bay, etc) to produce a cultural festival that will feature aspects of Asian culture (performances, activities, and ceremonies) and may include activities from other cultures, thereby highlighting the growing global interest in this sport. While the main portion of the festival will be right outside of 15 Necco, portions of the activities may be located along the waterfront at Atlantic Wharf, Boston Children’s Museum, and Boston Harborwalk.

As we work together to enhance habitat for native birds, insects, trees, and wildflowers, we’ll explore the local flora and fauna and discuss the ecology, natural history, and cultural significance of the landscapes within Boston Harbor Islands National and State Park. Parking is available, but carpooling is strongly encouraged. We will send more information to registrants about parking and carpooling prior to the event. Boston Harbor Lighthouse Cruise
Voyage through maritime history with a special three-lighthouse tour featuring close-up views of Long Island Light, Graves Light, and Boston Light – America’s first light station. Delve into history as you travel to the edge of Boston Harbor on an exciting 2-hour cruise and encounter three iconic lighthouses, and enjoy onboard narration provided by Boston Harbor Islands park staff and volunteers from the United States Coast Guard. Learn about the maritime traditions of Boston Harbor, enjoy unforgettable views of the park and city, and experience one of the most unique and historically significant ports in the country. Tours depart from the Boston Harbor Islands Welcome Center on the Rose Kennedy Greenway (across from the Marriott Long Wharf Hotel and next to the Greenway Carousel). Please arrive *at least* 30 minutes prior to departure for check-in. A Park Ranger will guide visitors to the dock 15 minutes prior to departure. This cruise has a capacity of 75 passengers – for a group buyout for a private experience or discounted rates for groups of 25 or more reach out to activations@bostonharbor.org

Summer Adventure Program – Summer 2026 July 7 – August 20, 2026 Tuesday – Thursday 9:00 am – 12:30 pm (Morning Program) – $120 Members, $130 Non-Members 9:00 am – 2:30 pm (Extended Day) – $180 Members, $195 Non-Members This program is supported in part by a grant from South Shore Playhouse Associates. The Summer Adventure Program offers seven weeks of discovery and exploration with a different theme each week for children ages 5-11. Each week includes hands-on activities, outdoor exploration, and a fun mix of history, science, and arts. NOTE: Due to the success of last year’s program, we are once again offering an optional extended 2 hours to give parents a little longer break and to let the children have some less structured play time. Summer Explorers Program – Summer 2026 July 7 – August 20, 2026 9:00 am – 12:30 pm (Morning Program) – $120 Members, $130 Non-Members This program is supported in part by a grant from the Hull Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency. This 7-week program offers a different area of focus each week, with all programming originating at our HLM Windmill Point Boathouse, including our fleet of open-water rowing vessels, the boathouse, the harbor, and the harbor islands. Areas of focus include: safety on the water, rowing and commanding (coxing) open water rowing craft, operating outboard powered boats, harbor piloting and navigation, marine environment, boat maintenance and boat building, while making connections to each other, to our past and to our future. Every year Hull Pride takes an informal break after our June celebration and then regroups in September.During our first meeting back, we hold an “open meeting” where anyone in the community can join us, learn a bit about our plans and mission and then see if they want to join us in a more meaningful way.Each year, we get a few new people who join our board, which meets on a monthly basis via hybrid in-person and Zoom.
